The Story Behind the Name
The Story Behind K-9 'Terra'
K-9 'Terra' was born on 19 March 2005. She served in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as a tracking and general purpose (GP) K-9. Her service reflected the qualities that inspired the TerraByte Digital name: loyalty, intelligence, reliability and protection.
She was dedicated, dependable, and always present when needed most. She approached every challenge with calm intelligence and never gave up on the people who depended on her.
Terra passed away in Duane’s arms on 3 January 2017 following anaphylactic shock of unknown cause.
Those same principles influence how TerraByte approaches technology, support, and long-term client relationships today.
Named in honour of K-9 'Terra'. May she live on in every system we build.
